Before

See how I turn this bundle of glitter into some beautiful works of art!

What you will need

  • resin & hardener
  • silicon Cupcake cases
  • range of glitters
  • snowflake mould
  • string or ribbon
  • heat gun
  • stirring stick
  • plastic pot

Firstly you will need a range of glitters. These are what I’m using.

Next, I brought this snowflake silicon mould from Amazon. You can get these from almost anywhere. There not specific resin moulds there just silicone ones that can be used for all sorts.

To make the snowflakes you will need casting resin. I buy my resin from Amazon. It’s good quality and at a good price.

To do 3 snowflakes I mixed up 20ml of resin and hardener. My resin and harder is a 1:1 ratio so I poured 10ml of each.

I mixed the resin slowly to reduce the amount of bubbles created. I mixed my mixture for around 2 minutes to make sure it was mixed fully together.

To get rid of any bubbles created when mixing use a heat gun. This will pop the bubbles easily.

I split my resin mixture into silicon cupcake cases along with my glitter. I use silicon cupcake cases as resin resists silicon so I can keep reusing them and keep the cost down of buying plastic pots all the time.

I poured my resin slowly and made sure all the areas of the mould was covered.

Here’s the 3 I created. I was experimenting with different colours to see how they would look. I let these cure for 24 hours in a warm room.

After 24 hours my snowflakes were ready to remove from there mould. I was really pleased with how well they came out. The glitter combinations I chose really worked together.

Lastly, I tied a bit of twine so I could hang them on my tree.

After

Im really please with the final result. They make wonderful Christmas tree decorations and they were so easy to make. I will be selling these in my Etsy store please feel free to have a browse.

These are so pretty. Is it possible for you to post a photo of how snowflakes in the other colors look? I checked your ebay and saw no snowflakes. Thank you.

  • Have you thought about using fishing line to hang them by? It would look so classy with that sparkle.
