Trying to figure out a way to stretch and straighten it out without just throwing it a way
Hello. My son build a triangular shaped wooden platform to help his corgi get up in the bed. This triangular build had a carpet runway to add better traction. It could be easier for the dog to have a ramp versus stairs something to consider.
Hi Karen, we use a little footstool (pouffe) to help our smallest fur baby get on the bed.
Hello,
Two people on eBay UK have one for sale, so maybe try eBay first!
Take a measured piece of plywood that will support the dog's weight, cover it with carpet, put non-slip rubber strips on the end and use it as a ramp to the bed. That way you have no need to store a step stool/footstool.
Here are instructions for a diy ramp:

You can build a simple box out of plywood & 2x4s (frame) and cover with carpet. If you feel you need 2 steps, build two with the larger one on the bottom. Then attach them together. This would be simpler than trying to build a "stair" design. By using plywood it should be sturdy enough to also support a person. Just make sure not to make it so wide that it isn't supported in the middle. If you need it very wide you can add 2x4s in the center.
Hi Karen, I had the same problem with my aging Bichon. I added a trunk to the end of my bed. The height of it was about halfway between the top of the bed and the floor. This gave him a halfway point to jump onto and then up. I'm not sure if your dog is able to get up that way or not but it helped my little guy.
you can buy them already made at amazon; Home Good Stores, etc for a good price
Here is a post that might help https://doggiedesigner.com/diy-dog-stairs-steps/
Understand completely. Have a Chihuahua mix that has birth defects and can't jump at all. We built a simple ramp similar to what Redcatcec suggested. Year's ago when we had a Golden retriever and when she started to age, she couldn't jump or hop either. W made a ramp for her to get in and out of the house as well as a portable ramp to get in and out of any vehicle and our RV.

You can make a ramp instead of stairs. Much easier than stairs. https://www.familyhandyman.com/list/best-pet-ramps-cat-dog/
or just purchase one at the pet store or Amazon.

Hello again Karen,
You could use a foot stool and a small table and tape them together to form a stairway. Use Strong cardboard boxes one in front of the other and taped together.
Something like Clinker blocks could do the trick too.
You actually can buy doggie steps. Look on line
Perhaps a simple "Ramp" will be easier to build and easier for the dog
Youāre so sweet, I bend over backwards for my dog too. You can get some lumber scraps at the home improvement store and put together a basic step unit easily. Get a small strip of carpet and staple it to the steps for a non-slip surface.
