How to Make a Gold Toned Hydrangea Bonsai for Fall- It's a Thing! :)

When I think of fall decorating, the first thing I do is head to the backyard to see what's left. And that would be my hydrangea bushes.
But here's a trick- if you wish to achieve gold hydrangea petals, pick them and allow them to dry while sitting outdoors. The sunshine continues to bleach the petals, until they turn a wonderfully washed out gold colour.
And with that, I couldn't wait to make something new. Ever hear of a hydrangea bonsai before? Well now you have! :)
Here's what I did.
Introducing..a gold hydrangea bonsai! A world first perhaps? Let's not check Pinterest and roll with that for now. :)
Gathering up some sun bleached gold hydrangea petals, they were snipped off the stems, then glued onto a squiggly branch.
The branch was stuck into styrofoam, and glued onto the bottom of a rustic clay pot. The pot was then filled with rocks, moss and more petals. (more pics are at the blog link below)
But I couldn't stop there, so I sprinkled more fall hydrangeas around the house. Notice a few golden petals in that colourful mix?
My fireplace mantel, and front entry also got hit with fall hydrangeas in a big way. Come on over to my house and take a look! There's coffee... :) Link below!

This is pretty. I have a gold one my mom pick before it completely dried. Some of the petals withered. I can use the good one to make one of these. And include it in part of my Winter Decor. Thanks Donna.
