Hometalk challenge using wood... I had this little wooden basket just sitting aroundicon So after some thought I decided to re purpose it and create something beautiful for the holidays!
The first thing I did was I gently took the basket apart using a pair of wire snips, I accumulated a whole bunch of wood strips.
Then cutting at the bend of each peace...and cutting the ends for shape
Taking a piece of foam board cutting it in a circle about the size of a 10 inch dinner plate... using hot glue I started assembling The Flower by using the longer pieces first then going with the shorter ones any leftover pedals were place as needed around the flower to fill in any gaps... taking the middle out of some (old silk)poinsettia flowers and refreshing them with the yellow paint and hot glued them to the center and using the leftover handle I secured it between the pedals to be hung
All finished and loving it now I need a mantle to hang it above
And here it is hanging, how beautiful does it look?

Beautiful idea! I wonder if you could paint the splints yellow and make a sunflower....

What was the foam board used for? Did you glue the pieces to it ?
