Vintage Necktie Fall Wreath

I am drawn to vintage neckties. They have such fun patterns and colors that I don't think will make a come back in the closet any time soon...but, they are great for crafting!
I bought a handful of Fall colored ties at a thrift store this summer for 25 cents each. Alongside some other supplies I had around the house I made this vintage boho gypsy fall wreath.
I started by cutting the ties into three parts and taking out the inside (which I saved to make the rosettes you see up top). By tying the ties around the wreath base in varying lengths I filled in the bottom third of the grapevine wreath.
Across the top I strung some wood slices we had from another project. You can make these or buy them at a craft store. These great faux wood letters were a steal from the clearance bin at Michael's. The pheasant feathers joined the mix because they help coordinate the wreath in with my mantel decoration. You can find a link to the rosette tutorial in this post on my blog. I used the muslin fabric from the inside of the ties to make these sweet flowers...I love them!
For a different texture and movement I wove in some wired ribbon.
I also worked in some chunky yarn adorned with wooden beads.
The way this wreath incorporates some old and some new and flows so gently down the door makes me smile and wish the cool weather would join this Fall décor!
I created it as part of a I hope you will hop on over to Hunt & Host to see some other amazing mantel, tablescape, wreath and craft ideas. 31 links are on the blog!
