Cinnamon Ornament Garland
Learn how to make a cinnamon ornament garland. This is a cute Christmas decoration for your tree or to hang from a mantle. First you'll make cinnamon applesauce ornaments and then use them to make a cute but simple garland.
This is a fun craft for kids and adults. Kids can help make the dough and assemble most of the garland with some help from adults.
To make the dough, you will need:
- 1 cup applesauce
- 1 ½ cups ground cinnamon
- Acorn cookie cutters
- White puff paint
- Twine
- Wooden Beads
- Gingham ribbon
- Hot Glue
Combine the cinnamon and applesauce in a bowl until it forms a dough. Add more cinnamon if it's too thick or too sticky. Mix the dough with your hands. You can add more cinnamon if the dough is sticky. Then use cinnamon to dust the counter and rolling pin and roll to 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to make shapes.
Then bake at 200 degrees F for 1.5 to 2 hours. You can also place the ornaments on a cooling rack and let them dry for 1 to 2 days. Make sure they are fully dry before moving to the next step.
Decorate the cinnamon ornaments with puff paint.
Then start making the garland. I alternated between wood beads, ribbon, and ornaments. Use hot glue to attach the ornaments.
Then hang from the tree or wherever you want to hang it. I put mine on the fireplace mantle.
