Coffee Filter Christmas Trees
With inflation these days, are you looking for a way to decorate for Christmas without breaking your bank? Or do have a big event coming that you need to decorate for and looking for a cheap but elegant centerpieces? - that is what I am doing. Only thing you need for this project is white poster board. I got mine at Walmart for $.97 I splurged for the heavier duty thickness since it was going to be my base, I didn't want it flopping around. You can opt for the thinner poster board that runs for $.48 a sheet.
You also need coffee filters, and two sizes for white cupcake liners and scotch tape (not pictured).
You can make these trees any size. I made one big one by rolling my poster board into a cone shape and taping it to hold it in place.
On the back I did have to piece it together to close the gap in the back. Use some scissors and cut around the bottom to make sure it will sit flat.
Next, get your coffee filters and cut out the bottom and fold it make it a half circle.
Start at the bottom and start taping the filters around the bottom.
Layer the filters and add cupcake liners (same thing, cut out the bottom and create a half circle) to add different layers and texture since the cupcake liners are tighter folds.
It doesn't look pretty until the end so keep going, layering and making sure you cover up the tape.
That is it. Pretty easy, right? The large tree took me maybe 30 minutes
I am dreaming of a white Christmas even though its only October. I know, I know I gotta get through Halloween and Thanksgiving first but its never too early to think about Christmas.
I made different sizes. You can make two smaller trees from one poster board by cutting the poster board in half then twist it up to make your cone shape. I am planning on making a bunch of these for a church Christmas party I am in charge of this year. I'll add some twinkle lights, candles, and some wood cut logs for texture - can you picture it? If you have a Christmas party coming up, winter wedding, or just want to jazz up the mantel or dinner table, make these cute trees for about a dollar each so you can stretch those dollars a little further this holiday season.

I will make this for sure! Maybe try a smattering of gold spray or white flock? I know extra weight will not work however. I love cheap, quick, and beautiful decor. Thanks!
I wonder if it would work to "color" the trees by putting them in a mix of food coloring and water, or tea or coffee staining them before assembly.
Can’t u use low temp glue instead of tape?
