Gather up the supplies

Every year my kids and I have a tradition where we layout cookies for Santa along with some carrots for the Reindeer. We also have this crazy real-looking magical key that we leave out on our front doorstep just before going to sleep.

The kids love this tradition and so do I because I can finally get to the Santa activities if you know what I mean. Wink.

I got the round wooden base form a hardware store. Or you can purchase it through this kit.

This Kit Includes:

  • Round Wood Base – about 16 inches round.
  • Tray Stencil
  • foam brush (other brushes not included)
  • paint sponges
  • Metal handles

Stain Your Board

Paint or stain your board to the color of your choice. Allow to dry.

Once the board is dry, lay out the stencils and arrangement them how you want them to be on your board.

Remove the stencil backing and then apply.

Prepare them for stenciling by adding a little mod podge to areas that are to be stenciled. This helps with the paint not leaking.

Painting the Stencils

Using the small sponges dab the paint into place where the stencil pieces are. Take caution to not dab pain over the stencil lines.

It is best to do two to three thinner coats than one bigger blobby one.

Finish the board

Remove the stencils after painting, and allow to dry.

Touch up any areas that may require additional paint, or cleaning and let dry.

You can then add a clear sealer to the board or leave as is.

Add the hardware handles to the board using a screwdriver or drill.

Admire and Display

Once finished display the tray until Christmas.

Leave our cookies and milk on the tray and don't forget carrots for the reindeer!
