Welcome to this easy and primitive peppermint stick DIY project. This idea is so fun and easy.

I made a couple of different versions; a more primitive one and a more bright and cottage-style one. I am loving both styles for the primitive one.

So cute! I love the sparkle on them.

Tools and supplies

Chenille cleaning cloth

I used a chenille cleaning cloth from the dollar store.

Ripping the material into strips

I ripped the material into strips.

Wrapping the material around the wood

I cut a dowel I had in six-inch pieces. I painted the ends of my wood pieces white because I knew they would be showing. Then, I hot glued the material onto the wood pieces.

Wrapping the fabric

After adding the homespun fabric.

Tea dyeing

Tea dyeing the strips in a cup overnight.

Tea-dyeing the chenille towel strips

I tea-dyed the chenille towel strips, then I ripped strips of red and white homespun fabric to use as the stripes. The one on the left wasn't tea-dyed.

DIY peppermint sticks

I used some spray adhesive from the dollar store and sprinkled glitter all over the material.

Then I made a small tag that stated peppermint sticks. I tied three of the pieces together with some muslin and attached the tag.
