I'm a sale'r. I love sale-ing and nearly every Saturday I go about my "garage sale tour". I regularly receive requests from my family and friends as BOLO (Be On the Look Out) for things they like. This project was inspired by a picture on Pinterest.
The hard part was finding an affordable body form. Ultimately I found the form on sale at Joanns for $39.99 (normally $99). The tree I did find at a garage sale for $10 and the dress at my favorite Angle View Thrift Shop for $3 (half off). Ribbons - garage sale $2.
Taking the bottom two sections of the Christmas tree, bind down the branches about 90 degrees. Join the bottom two sections. This forms the "dress". Plug in these two sections to insure the lighting works properly.
The bottom of the body form needed to be cut out in order to fit over the protruding "tree trunk". I chose a bowl large enough to leave about 1" on the slimmer side and drew a circle. After cutting away the burlap and used a gig saw to cut the circle.
Now she is ready to get fully dressed. I chose a stretchy dress that would body form and with a glittery skirt to cover the transition from body form to tree. Adding a piece of jewelry, some glitter garland to neckline and waste as well as the ribbon.
Adding the ribbon draping the dress was my final mark. I wanted to keep it simple yet elegant. There are many examples on Pinterest. What I enjoyed most was the self-expression and I am sure you can find your own.
