How to make your life easier when you are setting up Christmas decor

This year after pulling everyone of my storage bins out of the basement only to use a few bins worth of items, I decided I needed to do something more practical.

So I took everything out of the bins and gave away items I no longer use, and threw away broken items, also vacuumed out all of the glitter remains 😂 oh the glitter!

Once I had everything organized I decorated my house, but that’s not what we are taking about today 😉 we are going over the out away.

I started off by purchasing some heavy dirt garbage bags, and then have each kid a bag and had them place only the color I assigned them in their bag.

So for my daughter I had her put all of the pink ornaments in a bag, my son did the blue, and my other son did the red.

this is a great way to have the kids stay involved, they love to help decorate so they can help put away too, right?!?

for this I definitely recommend buying shatterproof ornaments. (I will never own the glass ones again)

Once all of the ornaments are off the tree, I take the tree fully set up and store it in my basement so I don’t need to re-fluff next year.

And as for the bags of ornaments, they go inside the bins, you can even label the outside of the bin with what colors you have in there to make things even easier.

Great idea if you have a small tree and shatterproof ornaments. My tree is 9 ft. and crystal & glass ornaments. I love my decorated tree.

I store my artificial Christmas trees with the decorations. I had my husband build me a plywood stand with wheels and cable tied the base of the tree to it. I wrap the tree as tightly as I can with a plastic painter's drop cloth, then wrap it in an Amazon Basics flat sheet, clipping each sheet closed with clothes pins. The I roll them into a back, unused bedroom for storage until next Christmas! Note: When I get to the bedroom we tip the tree to get it into the doorway and then roll it into a corner for storage.
