DIY Valentines Pillow Cover

2 Materials
What better way to decorate for Valentines that with an easy pillow cover that can be easily stored away?
To start, you'll simply need a white (or sold colored) pillow cover. I purchased mine from Ikea, but I know they're also available at craft stores. (Be sure to measure the pillow you'll be covering and buy the correct size pillow cover.) You'll also need pieces of purple and pink felt (or whatever festive colors you choose).
Decide how large you'd like your hearts. I used 4 hearts, three pink and one purple. I knew I wanted two hearts overlapping, so I planned accordingly. Use a fabric pen and free hand draw hearts (or use a stencil) onto your felt fabric. Cut them out and set them to the side. (Don't be intimidated by simply drawing the hearts. There's a charm in imperfect heart shapes.)
Next, free hand draw (or use a stencil) the word love. I wrote in cursive, but you could certainly use print letters instead. Once your hearts and your word are cut out, pin them to your pillow case in the layout your prefer.
With your pillow cover laying flat, with pieces pinned in place, stitch your hearts and word into place. I used pink thread. This created a contrasting stitch on the purple heart, which looked great!
Finally, be sure your pillow case is wrinkle-free and cover your pillow! You'll have an instant Valentines Day decoration, and what's even better is that you won't have to store an entire pillow to use next year, simply remove the cover and store it flat in your linen closet until next February.
