Stenciled Pillow Case “French Cottage Inspired”
One of the best ways to transition into another season is with textiles. Pillows and blankets are my favorite home accessories. This Spring transition is even easier with this lovely pillow!!
I love the French cottage vibe!
Start with a pillow case. I like to use drop cloth material and make my own. You could certainly use a plain pillow case too.
I really love this stencil from https://ellenjgoods.com/. She has so many unique stencils all in one place. This one worked perfect for the spring look I was going for.
I taped my stencil on using painters tape.
I prefer using a good paint like Fusion Mineral paint when I paint on fabric. It upholds through machine washing and drying.
continue stenciling across two thirds of the pillow case.
Using your painters tape, tape off lines for your grain sack look.
You can remove your tape almost instantly because the paint soaks in nicely to the fabric. I wouldn’t recommend using anything satiny or poly.
I did three grain sack stripes.
At this point I sewed my fabric into a pillow case and stuffed it with poly fill. You could use a pillow form too and base your fabric measurements around that.
I really love how it turned out. The only dilemma I have now is where I’ll put it because it looks so nice everywhere!!

thanks for sharing your stencil source.
A Maker Studio has similar large stencils but it is owned by a woman who mixes her religious beliefs with her business to a degree that makes me shy away from her site.

Have a question about this project?
Hi This question isn't exactly about the pillow case. Though I love it! How did you make the fusion for your footstool? Also, how did you make your apothecary cabinet? I have been looking for one like you have and can not afford it. Just wondering. Thanks, Stacy
Is that an old library card catalogue drawer unit against the wall.?
I love the wood. It adds so much character to the room.
