Ugly-Pillow Make-Over! – (in Less Than 15 Minutes!)

I’d been dreaming of a burlap pillow with the silhouette of a deer head for quite awhile now, but wasn’t exactly sure of how to go about it… I figured that the deer head along with the burlap would be perfect for fall, but also be able to smoothly roll right on into the Christmas Season!
I finally decided that I would upcycle an old existing ugly pillow instead of purchasing a new one...
Here is the ugly pillow that I decided to upcycle. Pretty ugly, am I right?!

I found the perfect deer silhouette image online and printed it out. I then cut it out and traced it on to my burlap, and then colored it in with a black sharpie.
Since I unfortunately didn't inherit my mother's sewing genes, I left an extra boarder of material, so that I could instead hot-glue it. I just used a piece of thin cardboard to press the glued border together, so that I didn't burn my fingers!

Here is how the pillow turned out! Simple, but classic, and definitely so easy to make!

Very cute! I always like burlap decor. Unfortunately, burlap doesn't like me. If I move, touch or brush against it, I can not breathe again till I shower and wash my hair.
So pretty!

You can pull a weft thread along the edges than hand fray the warp threads. It doesn't fray any more after doing this. Washing burlap makes it soft and can change it's shape.

I have been looking for silouettes of alot of different scenes that I could print. I found some good ones for Halloween to put on glasses or anything but it won't let me print them. Does anyone know of another site with different silouettes I can print? Thanks.

Once you get the image, how do you trace it on the material? Do you cut it out and trace around the image? Thanks!
Does the burlap smell really bad? I love using burlap but the smell stops me from using it for a lot of projects. Is there a way to get the smell " out"?
