Do you have a wood mens valet that has a missing support? follow along as I update this one.
This adorable mens valet was solid wood in a great style and size but it was missing one of the upright support pieces.
Trying to brainstorm ideas to replace it my daughter thought of dowels however they looked odd but gave me an idea on how to create a new one.The details are on the tutorial as to how I cut and routered a new piece then cut the chopstick dowels and glued it in to make a new support.
The interior had been well loved and was not a color my daughter wanted so I painted it in Fusion Mineral Paint in gorgeous bayberry green. Be sure to water it down when painting fabric. Two coats was all needed and then lightly sanded.
The body was painted in Old Fashioned Milk Paint pitch black again in two coats. Once dry it was sanded and distressed. Then it was all black waxed with Daddy vans black wax. (not waxed in above photo)
Here is the recreated support and the original one, pretty good right?
And here it is inside with loads of space to store all his goodies.Click to see more mens valets and ladies jewelry box tutorials.
