Come on over and learn how to make these DIY Shabby Chic Frames. Use dollar store frames to make these beautiful floral frames!

Hi there! Today I have a fun project to share that was inspired by some Anthropology floral frame. I decided to paint mine white with gold accents instead of solid gold, but you could easily spray paint them with whatever color you like best!

This dollar store frame DIY is so simple to make, and it is so inexpensive too! Here is what you need to get started!

  • a few dollar store frames
  • chalk paint or spray paint
  • paper flowers
  • Plaster of Paris (optional)
  • hot glue/glue gun
  • paint brush
  • printed quote or photo

Recreate these DIY Shabby CHic Frames in 3 steps:

Step One:

Start by painting your frame with a quick coat of chalk paint. (You could also spray paint them if that’s easier!)

Step Two:

Next, use hot glue to attach the paper flowers to the frame. (If using the Plaster of Paris and the silk flowers like in the video above, you will want to dip your flowers in the plaster and allow them to dry for 1 hour before glueing them to the frame.)

Step Three:

To finish, use chalk paint or spray paint to paint the paper flowers. This will probably take you several coats and you may need to use a small paintbrush to get in between all of the petals really well.

Once I painted the flowers white, I went back in with a little pale gold. I did a little dry brushing and also used my finger to paint on the gold accents.
