Farmhouse Heart Shadow Box

7 Materials
30 Minutes

This simple Dollar Tree shadow box is a simple one that could be filled with just about anything. I made this a while ago for Valentines Day but you can put anything in it and make it to suit whatever holiday is coming up.

I found this cute money box from the Dollar Tree.

Others supplies you’ll need:

glue sticks and gun

heart garland

razor and window cleaner

craft paper

Open the back to start with. We will remove the wording off this in a minute.

I found this cute burlap hearts garland and I'll just cut one off to use for the project. You could leave yours red as it is but I wanted mine to suit my decor all year round.

I used this buffalo check fabric so that it would suit my farmhouse decor. I found this material at the Dollar Tree too.

All I did was use my pinking shears to cut out a heart and then glued it over the red heart.

Now we will remove the wording from the shadow box. I know there are several methods out there but I found that this one worked best for me. I took foam window cleaner and sprayed it on the words. I let it set for a few minutes.

Then I took a razor and scraped off the words.

They will come off very easily. Just make sure to keep the razor flat so it doesn't scratch the glass.

This is what it should look like when you're done with removing the words.

Take the heart and glue it to the shadow box using your hot glue gun.

I found this cute key that I’ll also use.

I used scrap paper to cover the back of the box. Just use some Mod Podge to stick it on.

Glue it in place then close the backing. To cover the money slot I’ll add a bow at the top.

I made a matching bow.

Here is how it came out. For a few dollars and a little crafting time you can make great decor pieces or holiday decor for any room.

This has a cute farmhouse charm but could be made several ways.

You can use items you have around the house or check out the clearance aisle at your local Dollar store.

It goes so cute with all my decor. I love simple black and white pieces. To see more simple decor and inexpensive crafts check out Gilbert Marketplace on Facebook or YouTube.
