Faux Tulip Bulbs
This was one of those projects that turned out better than expected. I love faux greenery and faux garden elements and these bulbs will be making an appearance for many Springs to come.
The first thing you’ll need is coffee filters.
Leftover coffee works great for staining.
I dipped each filter in coffee then placed it on a paint cloth. You will need two filters for each bulb. I made a total of five bulbs.
I then took some chalk brown paint and “messily” painted them while they were wet.
While the filters were drying, I crumpled up pieces of brown paper bag. This will be your bulb.
I’d say it ended being about the size of a golf ball. Hey, I guess you could use old gold balls for this step too!!
I didn’t have any plain packaging paper so I used some tissue paper I had on hand so that the brown side would face out.
I wrapped it around the crumpled paper and twisted it into a point. I used a little hot glue to keep it twisted in place.
I cut the tip of the point off. This is where you will insert your leaf soon.
Now cut half of your filters in a flower like shape. And the second half of the filters the same way but smaller.
Wrap the large filter up around the bulb and glue in place.
Now wrap the smaller one on top of that and glue.
I plucked a few leaves from some faux stems I had but you could also use felt or a stiff fabric.
I tucked and glued the leaves into the top of the bulb.
Glue some moss to the bottom for the roots and you’re done.
These bulbs make a great Spring centerpiece!!

Wow, an excellent idea. AT least you can save them as permanent decor especially in a kitchen window. Bulbs are so expensive, and you will lose them from rot unless planted outside. LOVELY SPRING DECOR!
