Do you have those lovely “make up” Hollywood light fixtures in one of your bathrooms? If not the financial time to buy a new fixture, try spending about 20$ and create a custom balsa wood cover .
I had the 24 inch 4 light model and transformed it using BALSA wood pieces from HOBBY LOBBY.
BALSA wood pieces come already in 24 inch x 6 inch slats. Buy one for $6 then buy the thinnest slat that is 6 inches wide....another $6. They sell a tiny cubical dowel that helps you secure and reinforce corners when building open box face. Buy one $2
This BALSA wood cover will be very light. Use hot glue gun for dowel and all seams.
After constructed, paint and decorate.
CHANGE bulbs to LED .They do not get hot.
Do not remove metal light fixture on Hollywood lights.
Using a glue gun, glue the sides of the open box to the six by one inch side of metal part of fixture. BALSA box is so LIGHTWEIGHT that gluing will hold it just fine.
See pictures.
I had leftover material to decorate with so no expense. Dont forget to use your 40% off HOBBY LOBBY coupon online at the register to save more money if you need to buy some materials to paint.

Finished product
So you can see underneath....I painted the metal gray to match box but it looked fine white
Suggested materials:
  • Balsa Wood Pieces   (Hobby Lobby)
  • Used glue gun and paint etc on hand   (LED light bulbs)
