How to Make a Baseball Wreath for Your Front Door

Hey baseball lovers, this is a fun project for your front door (and could also be made with tennis balls which would be much lighter, golf balls if you can drill thru them and softballs if you make it small because it will be heavy!).

I will give you a heads up that many baseballs died on behalf of this project. Just warning you cuz’ it may hurt your heart a little, but it's so worth it!

I started with this wreath form from Hobby Lobby that we snipped down with wire cutters to just ONE ring.

As a side note, I also have INSANE "wreath twirling skills" as demonstrated in this very professional video right in the aisle at Hobby Lobby.

Back at home, we drilled holes through 16 baseballs. And by "we", I mean my handy husband whom I lovingly refer to as "Mr. Magic" (since I own The Magic Brush).

We fed the single metal ring thru the holes in the baseballs. You can see where the arrow is on this picture that we had 2 loose ends that we somehow had to keep together.

We tried to just double feed the wire thru the last baseballs thinking that squeezing 2 wires into the holes would be snug enough to hold it together. But, the wreath was very heavy and they needed secured.

So we used Gorilla Glue to shoot down into the holes of the last few balls which were on the bottom of the wreath…..

And we shoved it all tight together and then let it dry laying down overnight. Our hope was that the glue would give it the additional strength to stay together and it worked!

I had one of the girls who works with me add the burlap strip to hang the wreath by (we literally tied each end around the metal frame in between 2 balls) and make me the big red bow since I am bow-challenged. Then we attached my son’s little black bat and Mr. Magic’s favorite Royal’s hat to wreath.

And it was all done! Perfect for baseball season!

What size wire form did you purchase from Hobby Lobby and which single wire did you use on the form. Outside, Inside, 2nd from the inside, etc? Adorable idea! Can't wait to do this!

Hi Jennifer thanks for sharing this, I made one with a smaller wire and attached it to the wire wreath with tie wraps seemed easier now I’m planning on putting ribbon in between the balls. Thanks again
