How to Paint a Man's Valet From the Thrift Store

When was the last time you saw one of these man's jewelry boxes at the thrift store? I see them all the time. They're usually not as detailed as a ladies jewelry box so they're super easy to paint and update!

This one was simple but it had a little SECRET inside!

The secret? When you open the drawer it plays music! I even found a little hand-written note inside with the name of the tune. I found this beauty for only $3.99 at Goodwill!

First, I cleaned the jewelry box with some spray cleaner and a soft cloth.

Then I gave it a couple of coats of paint, allowing time to dry between coats.

The inside was boring beige and a little dingy but I took care of that by decoupaging tissue paper in the drawer.

Here’s the little note I found inside:

When the second coat was completely dry, I lightly sanded the edges. Then I completed it with one coat of varnish.

And here's the completed project.

This would be fun to keep on the entry table, kitchen, or wherever you drop your keys at the end of the day. It's not just for jewelry!
