So, I sleep much better in a totally dark room. This is usually not a problem as we have room darkening shades on our windows. However, this winter has been extremely cold and we recently began using the gas fireplace in our bedroom. Due to the extreme cold temperatures, the fireplace will come on often during the night and awaken me. I have a sleep mask in my luggage but I need to keep it there for traveling. I need another mask to put in my nightstand. Hmmm, I can just make a sleep mask.
I see you 👀
First I chose two different scrapes of fabric to use for the mask. To make sure no light would peek through the mask, I used white batting between the two pieces of fabric. The batting also helped to give the mask shape.
Making a pattern
Next, to create a pattern, I used a Sharpie to trace around the mask.
Perfect
I intentionally made the pattern a bit larger to allow for cutting and sewing.
Then I measured a piece of elastic to sew into the sides of the fabric.
Top side
Last, I sewed the three pieces together and sewed the elastic into each side.
Bottom side
This simple project is finished. Now, I have an extra mask to keep in the nightstand. Awww...sweet sleep 😴
