Refinishing Light Fixture

My mother sent me this lamp from my grandfather who died a few years ago and I really liked it and wanted to use it but it needed some... cleaning/painting/renewing...
I like looking at posts on Hometalk but never had the courage/time to do it but here we go.
I went to the store to buy some silver spray paint , and started working.
This is the before picture - dirty - looking very old - too long from my low ceiling ...
First - we took out some links to make it much lower .
Then I started taking out all the crystals one by one.
and put it in a soapy bowl and started washing them
Then I washed it again one by one and put it down to dry
Then the 'fun' part began
I spray painted it with my silver paint but ... I really DID NOT like the way it came out, I was expecting a much glossier color and this was way too matte for me so I went back to a different store - didn't have the color I wanted - then another store and found the color : NICKEL .

muchhhhhhhhh better -
I then had to put back all the crystals and make sure they won't fall
TADA...
So proud of myself,
I hang it only for the picture, will do a better job later on.

Nice job. Thanks fir sharing it. I have a light fixture I want to paint. What brand and where did you get the nickel spray paint? I bought three different silver sprays so far and like you said they are matte dull.

It's a beautiful lamp, the crystals are amazing. You did them justice.
