$5 Thrift Store Item Refurbished for Gift..

I had bought this several months ago and knew I'd gift it to someone. It's so hard to find something special. Shopping... bleh. Creating something they probably would never have, but would love and use, makes for a special gift. And I get to play with paint, ha.
Before
Nice solid wood frame. Always love when the wire and hardware for hanging are already attached.
Tape to protect center.
Paint frame.
Painted 2 coats of Shabby paint brand color, Garfield gray.
After 2 coats of the gray.
When dry, I sealed the paint with Shabby paint product, clear revax.
Added glazes and dark aging wax.
Mixed 2 parts Martha Stewart craft glaze to one part Annie Sloan graphite . Wiped over gray in sections and wiped excess off with baby wipe until advertising look I liked. Then I resealed with clear revax and repeated the same process with Shabby paint brand product, silver shimmer. Then sealed again with revax. When dry, I applied Annie Sloan dark wax. Sorry, got going and forget to take photos.
After frame dry, Tape to protect frame .
Applied 4 coats of Annie Sloan color, graphite for chalkboard center. Light sanding with 220 grit sandpaper in between coats for smoothness.
Stencils
Applied stencils in shabby paint brand color, Garfield gray.
Completed project.
Was going for a neutral, conservative look as is for a sweet aunt.
The gray with silver shimmer changes in light variation. This is a shot in the sun.
Frame in normal light.
A gift I'm proud to give and had fun making it! It's for a sweet aunt that treated me to a week in the Poconos! I hope she really likes it! Happy Creating out there. :)
