Thrift Shop Farmhouse Decor

4 Materials
My friend saw the potential in the ugly pear "basket" thing at the thrift store and she was totally right! Now I LOVE it as farmhouse decor in my home.
Here is the before. My friend Peggy told me to look beyond the ugly and I did. But look at the huge pear and the weird handle.

I started by removing both of them.
I painted the wood with a white chalk paint and left the metal sides alone. It is a special chalk like paint mix that I used on my farmhouse ipad/recipe book holder I love that thing.

After the paint was dry I created a stencil on my Silhouette Machine and painted it with Americana Decor Chalky paint.
After the black chalk paint was dry I sanded it to make it look old and distressed then added the creme wax finish and buffed with a soft cloth when it was completely dry.
What do you think? I added some fall foliage and pumpkins from Hobby Lobby for now but I think it could be a storage box, a pen holder, or anything else I want.

But, I love it so much and it really came a long way from it's beginning.

Always remember when you are looking around a thrift store to look beyond the ugly and see things in a different way. And if you don't know what it will be right away, buy it anyway because eventually you will figure it out. This piece was $1.50.
