We were given an outdated bench that had good bones, but the fabric was dated and the wood veneer was chipped. Here is the journey of a ho hum bench to a farmhouse showstopper.

So, we got excited and didn’t take any before pictures of using a heat gun to get the veneer off of the rounded sides OR the painting and distressing. Oops! But, as you can see the material was pretty dated.

After the painting and distressing it got a coat of this to seal the paint.

To make it more farmhouse style, we took a flannel jacket and some barnwood to improve the look.

We laid the top of the seat upside down on the flannel and cut it to size. Using an electric stapler, we stapled the shirt to the wood. We did put some batting in between to make it comfy when you sit down. Using an electric stapler made the job go much faster!

Cute huh! But you have to add that barnwood. What else are your shoes or boots going to go!

Close up!

And how cute is this! Perfect for an entryway or back porch.

The white and cream "fight" each other. Perhaps white with a tiny bit of the cream showing thru would look sweet.

I would so paint that a royal blue to match the fabric.

depends on the rest of the decor, but yes ~ that would look good!
