How to decorate a long entryway that has two opening to different room

Photo gallery of family, nature shots etc all in identical frames in a row. Board and batten on the bottom with a different color top ie: white board and batten and a darker color on the walls.

You may want to put a small table with a lamp and a spot for mail, keys, etc. since it's an entryway. A rug is always nice and some pictures on the walls.

Make the entry way practical and beautiful. I would add a coat rack/bench near the front door. If you live in a rainy area (I live in soggy Oregon) add a milk can or something similar to hold umbrellas.

You will probably need an area to store wet boots and muddy shoes.

Don't forget a small garbage can and a mirror so you can check your hair before leaving the house.

We have a modern country look going on and used horse shoes welded together to make a coat rack.

You didn't mention is this area had any windows. If it doesn't check out the idea involving a fake window to add light.

Is it long and narrow, or just long?

How tall is the ceiling in the entryway?

What are the actual dimensions of the area?

Posting a picture of the area would illustrate what type of space you have to work with. Once we see exactly what you are starting with, it will be easier to give realistic suggestions on how you could improve its appearance, as opposed to just tossing out random ideas that may not be possible with the dimensions of your particular floor plan.

I think the biggest consideration would be wall covering. You can paint it a coordinating neutral color that will join the two rooms. Or you could make it bold and wallpaper it with colors that appear in both rooms to add a connection to both.

With hallways like you are describing, light and airy is usually the best way to go. A neutral that gives you a good flow from room to room. I am repainting our old house right now, and I decided to go with a light cream both upstairs and down. It works well, with the mostly gray walls that open off the downstairs entry and the blue and gray bedrooms upstairs. Good luck and stay safe!

I would paint the walls a light neutral color and just put a few framed photos that are the same size and shape on the walls. Keep it simple in a narrow area.

Debby: set up a family (black and white!) photo gallery -- with simple black frames.

Gallery type wall would be my recommendation. It doesn't have to be photographs, you could do decor or mix decor and photographs.

Hello! You could put a wreath on the doors, add artwork to the walls, do board and batten or molding on the bottom half. Also you could add a floor runner, a new light fixture, hang a mirror, and if space allows, a small side table with a mirror and greenery.

Mirrors on the wall might make it feel less narrow
