3 of my faves are:
split leaf philidrendron
palm
umbrella tree
The easiest plants are philodendrons. A huge variety of them as well, split leaf, arrowhead, heart leaf, pink. All shades of green from dark to multi tonedfull and you can root cutting just placing in water. Replenish posts with newly rooted cuttings. Sanseveiria are also super low maintenance and add great height. Also add a few herbs to a sunny window like basil and rosemary.
Hello I recommend Sansevieria

Hi Sharon. Pathos is a great plant for beginners. Also try Aloe. Easy to care for and can be used medically. Scrapes, scratches, burns can all benefit by pulling off a leaf and squeezing out the "milk". Put it on the skin and it will help in healing. Good luck Sharon.

You have lots of good recommendations from Home Talkers. As long as you have a sunny window away from cold drafts and/or hot air from heat vents they should survive as long as they aren't over watered. Correct watering is the key to healthy house plants.
