Follow along to see how this plain jane corner cabinet was updated to a fun country classic .. more details can be found at the blog link posted below too
This hand crafted corner cabinet had lost its pizzazz and banished to the garage. That was until my daughter found it and brought it home for a reloving. The size was perfect to give loads of storage in a room tucked neatly in the corner and with some paint, stencils and dark wax it was given new life.
I chose layers of colors to give a more authentic look starting with a duck blue as the base coats and 3 good solid coats in the bottom storage cabinet behind the door.
Then added a warm creamy color topped with a vintage white. The layers are perfect on an old piece and when sanded give added dimension and color to a piece.
Because it might see lots of traffic on the shelves I sealed it with 3 coats of poly. To add further charm I stenciled the same duck blue color in a fun vintage tin tile stencil on the door front as well as on the shelf surfaces. A new knob was added in the duck blue as well then all was aged further with dark wax. Tadaa!!
