Easy IKEA Stool Makeover

I'm a huge fan of the IKEA BEKVAM stepstools, and I really love how they're a fantastic blank slate for all sorts of makeovers! I recently upgraded one for my toddler to use in our bathroom, and it was so incredibly simple to do! You can see the full tutorial on my blog, along with a few more photos!
I started off by taping off the stool about 2/3 of the way up. I like to use (affiliate link) Frog tape - it bleeds a lot less than the blue brand! On the bottom, I stained the wood with a favorite color. If you aren't familiar with staining, it's beyond easy - just use a lint-free cloth or a foam brush to apply the stain, allow it to soak in for 5-10 minutes (longer for a deeper color), then wipe off the excess. Repeat 1-2 more times to get a gorgeous, rich color!
After I stained, I painted the top part white, allowed it to dry, and removed the tape. Then, I applied a coat of Polycrylic on the entire thing (to make it easier to clean and prevent paint chipping), and that's IT. Seriously, done. It's that simple.
Now, all that's left to do is plop it down in a pretty room and let it shine!
