We had just completed a bathroom makeover. . . painted the walls, refinished the vanity and mirror, and added a new medicine chest. All it needed was the finishing touch of a new shower curtain.

Rather than use a standard 72-inch length shower curtain that always seemed too short, I felt a longer length would give the illusion of height in the bathroom.

While we didn't have any luck finding a longer shower curtain, we did find an alternative.

Lowes had curtain panels that were 84 inches in length (in a pattern that I loved.) Plus they had grommets, which were perfect for hanging in the shower!

So, I bought 2 panels, and with the help of my sewing machine, in no time had a shower curtain that I actually liked! This DIY shower curtain gives the bathroom more of a "designer" look and will be my go-to method from now on.

Here is how I did it step-by-step, and I've also included the YouTube video if you'd rather watch that.

STEP 1:

I purchased 2 packages (1 panel per package) of Living Logic brand 84-inch grommeted curtain panels.

STEP 2:

Next, I laid the 2 panels out on the floor with the wrong sides facing up. I am pinning them together lengthwise in preparation for sewing.

STEP 3:

Using the sewing machine, I sewed the 2 panels together.

STEP 4:

Next, I hung the new shower curtain. The grommets make that easy! Then, I hung a shower liner using hooks. We only needed one rod for everything, and I just followed the pleats as I hung the plastic liner.

STEP 5:

Enjoy the new shower curtain! We've had this for over a year now, and I still love it!
