We decided to give our fireplace/mantle a makeover. The brick just took over the look and felt heavy and dark. Here's how we gave it a brighter new look.
This is a before photo of the fireplace.
We found this old mantle that had many layers of paint on it. We decided to use it for our fireplace so we stripped it of seven layers of paint.
Then we removed the brick from the wall. Here is the brick wall coming down. Slowly getting there...
This is the wall with no bricks. We will convert the fireplace to gas in the fall.
We prepped and painted the wall. Once the mantel was stripped of all that paint, we placed it over the fireplace. A new coat of stain gave it a fresh new look.
Here is the finished look, it looks great! Cant wait to decorate this space!
