Hi Hometalk! Happy day to all of you! I am very excited to share what I restyled last year.

A little back story, I bought a foyer table last year for $80. As a lover of thrift shopping, I really notice that prices have gone up since the start of the pandemic. There are times that I hesitate to buy furniture because of the price but thanks to my Facebook Friends that encouraged me. I am super happy that I got and restyled this foyer table that I almost didn't buy.

Here's the table I started with. It is still in very good condition.

I proceeded to clean the piece with furniture cleaner and then sanded it with 120 grit sandpaper. Upon sanding the top I accidentally sanded through the sunburst inlaid top trying to get the old scratches. I've also sanded through the surface in a few places. I was planning to stain the top but to go with the flow with my mistake, I decided on a white top, a blue body, and highlighting the details using white wax.

To match the existing details of the tables, I used these appliques designs. It is so enjoyable to play with and very easy to work on.

Before priming, I glued the appliques onto the table. Since this table is a made-in-china manufactured piece, it has a factory finish. And with that, I used an adhesion primer that allows me to paint on shiny and slick surfaces.

I spray painted the body and the appliques with two coats of Blue All-in-One Mineral Paint.

While I used paint rollers and painted two coats of White All-in-One Mineral Paint for the top of the table.

I dry brushed the body to blend the white top and then white waxed the appliques to highlight the details using water-based white wax.

Here's the finished look! The white top looks super crisp.

And the details are gorgeously highlighted by the white wax.

Here's another look at its before and after. I hope it inspired you and gave you ideas for your furniture projects. If you want more furniture makeover inspirations, you are always welcome to my blog! icon
