Pinterest is flooded lately with battery operated puck light hacks. I love the concept but wouldn't spend the money on buying fixtures to create them. I wanted some lighting for my deck so I put my own spin on the puck light hack using items from Dollar tree.

Supplies for this project are two bowls, two plant hanger support chains, and two Led battery operated puck lights. ( Sorry they got cut out of the picture.) All purchased from Dollar Tree for under $10.00.

Step one is to remove wrapping from the bowls. They come two in a set.

Next take your puck lights and remove packaging. If you want to spend the extra money you can purchase with a remote to turn off and on, but for where I am using them the push button is fine for me.

You will need some type of strong adhesive to secure lights. I am using contact cement as I already had it. You can use E 6000 also.

The back of the lights have an adhesive pad on them. This is great if you were using them indoors but with outdoor use the heat will cause the lights to fall off. To have a completely flat surface I am removing the pad from the middle. You can use a paint scraper or knife to remove backing.

So once backing is removed you are going to apply your adhesive. If using contact cement follow directions on package.

Place your backs of the lights in your bowls. They fit perfect in them so no need to center.

I placed two cans in the bowls for added weight to help secure while the adhesive sets, which takes about 30 minutes.

Next take your plant hanger support chains and remove from packaging.

These are quite long, so I will be removing some of the links. First remove these clips from the bottom and set aside.

Here is my hanger with the links removed. I ended up removing 14. They are easy to remove, I just used a knife to pry open the link.

Reattach the clips that were removed from the bottom.

At this point your adhesive should be dry. Put batteries in your light and attach to the back of your light. It should look like this.

It is now time to attach your chain. Press open the clip and place on edge of bowl. Centering the 3 chains around the bowl.

Your light should look like this once the chain is attached.

Place light in desired location. To hang you can use plant hanger hooks from any Dollar store. I already had mine in place.

Here is my lights. I am really impressed with how they turned out.

Here they are lit up. These are perfect for a summer night on the deck. Come winter I can bring them indoors and use them elsewhere.
