If it's an old metal one, you can repaint the metal to freshen it up. Adding a wood frame around the actual mirror would dress it up - you can use wood or small tiles.

I used woodgrain contact paper in brown to match the woodwork in the half bath. It was a rented house so could not paint it but the contact paper worked fine.

Paint will definitely work as a quick and easy upgrade. I would uninstall the cabinet, lightly rub it down with steel wool and than clean it thoroughly and then repaint it with metal oil based paint. I've always had really good luck with the rustoleum brand. You could also consider painting out the inside with a fun pop of color too!

It is surface mounted and has no frame. The sides are mirrored at least, but the lack of a frame has resulted in the frequently touched bottom edge corroding and discoloration of the mirrored backing. I love the look of a beautifully framed round mirror but my husband would especially miss the storage and id not agreeable to replacing it for aesthetics.
