You can replace with wood or underpaint the glass. There are thousands of designs you can do on the underside of the glass. Use oil based exterior paint or stencil using spray paint.

You could paint the underside of the glass, Decoupage it facing up of course, Use foil, reverse paint a picture or cover it with fabric stuck with MOD PODGE or just use a tablecloth of some sort. Enjoy the project!
