Thrift Store Chair - First Attempt at Refinishing

Maggie McArdle
by Maggie McArdle
This is my first attempt at refinishing furniture. Now that it's done, I'm addicted to it and have been given so many other pieces to finish. Can't wait to get started.
Pre-finishing
Got this chair for $5 at the thrift store. It was really sturdy but the finish was sticky and dirty and the cushion was crunchy
after finishing
So I stripped the chair. Sanded it down. Painted it a glossy white. Added a new cushion. The black stripes are actually satin ribbon since I don't feel I have a steady enough hand to paint them. And then finally I finished up by painting the detailed flower at the top. And now I'm addicted to finishing furniture.

@Maggie McArdle Wowwwww - what a great job. You are a pro. I love the way you painted the chair and the fabric you chose. The attention you gave the leaves and flower at the top of the back of the chair is the perfect touch. What a transformation.
