How to Fix Holes in Sheetrock (Our New Attic Door!)
Hi, I'm Amber Oliver! I hope if you enjoy this project you'll also stop by my blog!
Ah the joys of homeownership: our AC recently went out! Dreading such a costly repair was only exacerbated by the news that our attic door was too small! We would have to put in a NEW, LARGER door in order to even do the repairs on the AC.
We basically doubled the size of this door! So a few $100 later, we had a big ol' hole in our hallway ceiling and a brand new pull down attic door!
The problem was, I now had to PAINT the darn thing AND the sheetrock was damaged when the door was installed.
To fix this lovely hole, I had to use this amazing stuff:
Magic in a box!
Get a hefty amount on your tool (or use your fingers like I ended up doing!!) and gently fill the hole. You can then smooth it over and add more if needed.
It will be quite bumpy, but let it dry. I left it overnight to dry along with the primer on the door.
Before painting, gently sand off the excess!
After painting, you can't even tell where it was damaged! Easy peasy, and much cheaper than paying a handyman!
