How to Paint a Door With a Paint Sprayer

Painting a door is a huge way to make an impact on a room without spending a lot of time or money. You don't need any special skills or artistic ability, either. Select a color that you like and get to work! My favorite way to paint a door is with a paint sprayer. Here is how to do that.

First, buy the paint. For an outside door, we used exterior semi gloss paint. For an interior door, I prefer an interior satin finish paint. Use any color you like.

The hardest/most time consuming part of using a paint sprayer is always the prep work. You will need to tape everything off, including any glass, the door frame, etc. I also added kraft paper (but newspaper would work, too) under the door to protect the flooring. Don't cut corners on prep work if you want a clean finish.

Use your paint sprayer to give the door two even coats. It goes very quickly. If you click through to my blog post, I have a video. I am using a different paint sprayer in this picture, but I have since changed my favorite paint sprayer to this one by HomeRight. It is very easy to use and gives even coverage.

You want to remove all tape/paper while the paint is wet. This is VERY important to any paint job. If you let the paint dry, it will likely peel off a bit with the tape. Clean up quickly and allow to dry according to the directions on your paint can. Enjoy!!
