I love using old fabric off cuts to transform an old planter project as it’s always so easy and gives a satisfying quick makeover! Get the kids helping on this one.

Old plastic planter

I use thin 100% cotton squares in shades of pink as a colour palette theme but you can use whatever you have to hand and is great way to use up old fabric.

Choose fabric

I use PVA glue to stick the fabric onto planter and begin by laying out the squares around the rim in diamond pattern.

Laying fabric

When I’m happy with dry layout it’s ready to glue in place. I cover both the back of fabric as well as the pot. Remember to smooth out the air bubbles with your brush as you go.

Glue fabric

I make sure edges overlap and there are no gaps and choose patterns and colours to look good next to each other.

Smooth out air bubbles

Continue around the planter until all covered. I cut two small triangles to fit final gaps.

Finally apply a light coating of PVA all over the surface to seal it and then leave to dry for few hours. Then it’s ready to pop your favourite plant in.
