Research is the key to successful Harbor Freight purchases. There are a lot of places you can find on line reviews of other folks purchasing the same tools you are considering. My husband is doing a tin boat restore and a lot of the tools he is using are Harbor Freight tools. You have to also judge how many times you will be using the tool. If it is once or twice but you gotta have that tool, then the cheapest harbor freight tool is the way to go. If you are looking for longevity, then do the research and purchase accordingly. For instance we purchased the air compressor from another dealer after due consideration, and then purchased 50% of the air tools and accessories from Harbor Freight.

Jeff - great question. I have purchased a bench grinder and a hammer drill from Harbor Freight. Both were of quality and I have not had any issues thus far. Four Seasons Nursery - I absolutely agree, you have to do your research when buying tools regardless of which retailer or brand you choose. Other options for getting great deals include eBay, Craigslist, and other online auctions. Some of my best deals have actually come from estate sales. I once purchased a Craftsman radial arm saw that was never used for $20!
