Side Table, Weathered Flag Makevoer

This project is part of the group...a great group of furniture flippin bloggers! I was on the lookout for a side table a friend needed and stumbled upon this at a flea market.
I had been helping my friend makeover a room in her house in an effort to re-claim a space of her own. Two of her four little ones were not as pleased as she was with the outcome! They lost some of their play space! My friend spent time teaching in England, back before marriage and kids. She really enjoyed that time abroad. I decided to make over this table to inspire her, conjure up memories of those days and refresh her by the sight of it. Bet you didn't know furniture was capable of so much, but it totally is!!!
After covering the table with chalk paint and repairing some minor damage, I got a copy of the Union Jack flag. I taped of it's likeness with painter's tape. I wish I could give details, but I made it up as I went!
Using red and blue acrylic paint I painted the flag across the entire table surface. Once dry I scuffed and sandpapered it down for an old weathered feel. I hope she thinks back to those good old days in England. What memories can you including in your decorating?
Won't you come for a visit over at Hunt & Host? I'd love to have you follow along! Don't forget to follow along here too, so you can see the latest projects we're up to!
Enjoyed the project?
