Light Fixture Makeover

Are you tired of looking at this?
How would you like this instead?
My husband and I undertook a huge renovation while I was pregnant. It probably wasn't the best decision we have ever made. As we neared the end of the project we were running out of time and running out of money, so we did what most people would do. We bought the cheapo "boob" lights.

After years of looking at them I had finally had enough, so I decided to try something new.
I unscrewed the shade, the way you would to replace the lightbulb,
and I bought a new lampshade at Ikea.
The kind of lampshade that sits over the bulb with this type of framework.
I cut a piece of plexi-glass,
and fit it into the top (soon to be bottom) of the lampshade so that no one would be able to see the "guts" of the light fixture when standing under it.
By sandwiching nuts and over-sized washers, I wash able to attach the lampshade to the existing fixture.
And now I have an AWESOME new light!

To find out what hardware you will need, and how to "frost" the plexi-glass, be sure to follow the link below!
