Console Cabinet Goes From Drab to Fab in One Evening!

You have to admit this is pretty drab. My Mother gave this to us many years ago. It was originally off-white. Why, I don't remember, I painted it burgundy years ago. I had been wanting to try chalk painting and distressing so here I go. I did my research and decided to make my own chalk paint. The only thing I had to buy was Plaster of Paris.
I gathered my supplies.... white and black paint, brown glaze, sand paper, water, mixing container, paint brush, old rag and plaster of paris.
Supplies and bench I am about to do!
I mixed 1 cup white paint with 2 T water and 3 T of the plaster of paris. Mixed until smooth. I painted the bottom and wow it dries fast! Then I took the rag and wiped the glaze over the chalk paint. The glaze makes it look old. Then I took the sand paper and roughed up the edges. I painted the top with some left over black paint I had. I liked the way one light coat looked because some of the wood grain shows through.
Here it is! I love it again! I am doing the bottom of a farmhouse bench next. This is so easy and the big box of Plaster of Paris was about $6. Everything else I had. I am not even sure what kind of paint is was :)
