Paint a Swallowtail Stepping Stone

Everyone love my Monarch Stepping Stone! I can't blame them it is a bright spot in the garden. Now for a companion...a Swallowtail Butterfly Stepping Stone
Start with painting the cement paver with Zinser Bulls eye sealing paint. A good few coats to smooth out the rough surface some. Then sketch on your butterfly. I looked at a photo and did my best. I confess to not being very talented at sketching. A skill I need to improve upon.
I stared filling in the wings with the darker yellow craft acrylic paint, then added highlights with a lighter yellow and some white.
I sketched on the detail lines with white chalk then painted over them with a liner brush and black paint.
Add in the blue spots and the little red dots. I may go ahead and line around the outer edges for better definition but I am not certain yet.
I finish it with an exterior urethane. How long this will last outside in the garden is still unknown but the Flower stepping stone I made last year still looks like new.
