I love repurposing a piece of furniture. Especially if it looks like it's ready for the dumpster. I found this great vintage radio cabinet that had seen better days and knew she could be great again! Meem Kaplan on Apr 02, 2015Love this piece! I think you did a marvelous job. As to the "grill" work? Sometimes ya just gotta cut yer losses. I agree. I'm glad you didn't get all "I must save it all". That usually gets me too distracted to enjoy what I Have done. It makes me feel better that you proceeded with the project and didn't worry about the grill. As for the peeling veneer, did you strip it off? I have a lovely desk that a late friend restored and I have it in a back room. I want to replace this old common oak desk in the living room with that desk but the front right corner of the top is broken off. Only about a half inch but I dont' quite know what to do about it. I suppose I could leave it and cover the top with plate glass. The wood is quite lovely, two different kinds make the piece, and I don't really want to do the fill and paint thing as it reminds me of all the work my dear late friends had done to restore it. I can't afford to hire a furniture restorer. What would you do?
