Repurposed Sewing Cabinet to Phone Stand

I have had this sewing machine for quite some time. A friend of mine left it here. I decided to turn it into a phone station after seeing another one similar to this one (which you can find on my blog)
With the sewing machine still inside.
The tray of sewing goodies.
Here it is after. I sanded the whole thing so it would have some grit to hold the primer and paint.
Here's the top, stained.
Distressed it up a little bit!
I used the same handle and decided to paint it black but when I did, the paint never dried. Even after an hour it was still tacky. I decided to wipe it all off but not all of it came off. I actually like it with bits of black in it.
When you open the door to the cabinet there is a unit that shelves the sewing items.
I was going to spray paint the unit/shelf black but after the handle incident, I decided against it. Left it brown and added a cute garden notepad and pens to take notes.
Here's the drawer that now houses pen and paper!
And the final before and after!! For never staining anything before, I think it turned out pretty good. Stop by my blog and check out all the details!

That is a great idea! I just sold it and the new owner is going to put a sewing machine back in!

Have a question about this project?
What did you do with that awesome antique sewing machine inside the cabinet. I would've loved having that in my collection of old sewing machines.
Looks great but why did you put the handle on upside down?
