Picture Frame Jewelry Holder

"Sometimes it's ok to throw rocks at girls." Have you seen this saying or some variation of it on jewelry store signage or online? When I first saw it, I thought how cute it would be for a jewelry holder. Since my granddaughters birthday is coming soon, I decided to get out some of my prisms to see what I could come up with.
I decided to use a small wooden picture frame I had. I started by removing the board from the center, and texturing it with drywall patching.
When it had dried, I laid out my design with bead letters and the loose prisms.
I broke off the loop on the letters, and glued them on. Then I removed the prisms, and waited for the glue to dry. Then I painted on three coats of charcoal metallic paint drying between coats.
I brushed silver leaf on the surface and the letters.
I used fishing line to string the prisms together and glued the clusters to the board.
I painted the outside of the frame with three coats of black metallic paint, and while the third coat was still wet I sprinkled it with the glitter.
I added cup holder hooks, and a bow and prism at the top.
I added some of my own jewelry to see how it worked out. I'm really happy with the end result, I know I'll probably give it to her early. :-) Hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
