For all that wanted to see the Peruvian Scilla aka The belly button, it has started to bloom, in the pics it looks blue, but it really is a light purple with yellow center. It has to be the slowest blooming flower I have ever seen, its taken almost 3 weeks to get to this point.
Enjoyed the project?

Douglas Hunt on Aug 03, 2012@Marilyn: Several folks on Dave's Garden report growing it in Texas and it supposedly likes hot, dry conditions.

Sue Kiene on Sep 22, 2016here is an article about the plant. It says you should only split it if you really need to because it will disrupt its blooming for a year or 2. It also says that the head of the bulb should be planted just above the soil which is unusual. Sounds like if you do not split it, this is a good time to give it some fertilizer. Regardless, take care of your little jewel. http://www.paghat.com/scillaperuviana.html
