DIY Wedding Date Sign

Remember when I stole a bunch of rough-sawn cedar from our neighbor and we made amazing things out of it? Like our Pot Farm? And our DIY Headboard? And our Trellis of all Time?
We still have scads left over, and since neither Phil nor I can ever remember when or why we got married, I thought I'd make us a little sign to mark that blessed event.
At least it will remind us of when we got married, if not why.
Phil cut four boards and used his Kreg jig to screw them together. I slapped together some type I liked and printed it out. I'm pretty sure I got the date right. I sure hope so, otherwise it defeats the whole purpose of the project, and this post can go straight into the "fail" column.

Here's the backside because someone inevitably wants to see a backside.
I'm quite sure your eagle eyes noticed the graphite paper I had placed beneath my typography in the very first picture. I'll wait while you scroll back up.
And yes, I realize there's a crack on the front side (when the crack is supposed to be on the backside). Phil wanted to fix the crack, but I think it's quirky and imperfect. Just like our marriage.
After impatiently waiting for the paint to dry, I did a little light sanding/distressing (or, as I like to call it, knocking down the high spots and smoothing out the painted letters so the ragged edges aren't quite so in-your-face). I finished if off with a coat of clear wax.
Who is that young couple in that picture?
I'm not sure, but this middle-aged couple is going to party like it's 1999!
